The glycemic index of chana dal is extremely low which makes it a super food for diabetics
Air Fryer Masala Vada
Rich in B-complex vitamins such as B1, B2, B3 and B9
Ingredients
Chana dal (split chickpeas) – 1 cup + 3 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Onion – 1/2 cup chopped
Ginger – 1/2 tsp chopped
Green chilli – 2 chopped
Cilantro (coriander leaves) – 1 tbsp chopped
Sea salt to taste
Coarsely grind:
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Fennel seeds – 1/2 tsp
Black pepper – 1/4 tsp
Dry red chilli – 2
Instructions
Soak chana dal for about 4 hours.
Make it into a coarse paste using a blender (do not add water)
In a coffee grinder, grind coriander seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper, red chilli into a coarse powder and add it to the chana dal paste.
Add chopped onion, green chilli, ginger, coriander leaves, sea salt and mix well.
Add 3 tsp soaked chana dal and mix well.
Rub 1 tsp oil to hands and make small ball and gently press to make like vada.
Repeat same procedure to remaining mixture.
Set air fryer to 400 degrees (200 Celsius).
Pre-heat for 3 minutes.
Spread oil inside the basket.
Arrange vada on the basket and brush or spray with oil.
Cook for 10 minutes (after 5 minutes, flip the vada and cook for another 5 minutes).
Remove masala vada and enjoy!
